She's a BEAST. a Woman & the World. pt.1

Hi Lovers and let me formally say Happy New Year!!
As I started planning last year what I wanted this year in She's a BEAST world to mean to me of course love, joy and inspiration are on the list however my goal is to keep turning it up a notch. So, what better way to kick off the New Year than some travel inspiration? I feel like over the past couple of years the love of travel has increased across the board, or maybe it's the availability of social media to see that everyone is catching flights. Either way, I'm inspired and I have the privy to some badass women who aren't afraid to pick up and go, they know some of the ins and outs to travel or maybe they don't but they don't hesitate.
For this two part feature I reached out to two of my favorite, live out loud women. First up is Fatima, a true New York woman who captures the most amazing moments of her travel and keeps you wondering what's next?

·        hmm:  Hi Fatima, so I've known you for awhile however it seems like over the past couple of years you've been doing a lot of traveling. Did this just start?

FJ: The traveling bug bit me after my first trip abroad to Dubai in 2015! Traveling seemed completely out of reach for me, until I purchased a “glitch fare” ticket to the United Arab Emirates for only $178 roundtrip.

hmm: Glitch Fares? Are these secret sites, what do you use to book your trips?

FJ: I use www.secretflying.comwww.theflightdeal.comwww.skyscannerwww.googleflights.com and www.airfarespot.com religiously to find cheap domestic and international flights. I’m an avid AirBnB user for lodging, and if I happen to look for hotels I like to use www.booking.com and the hoteltonight app! For excursions and a list of things-to-do I like to frequent tripadvisor and the Places tab on Instagram!

hmm: So we have that part down, how do you find your destinations?
·
FJ: I definitely have a wish-list of places around the globe I’d love to travel to, but I honestly find destinations to visit based upon cost. For the last 2 years, I’ve been budget-traveling around the world with many thanks to glitch-fares that are listed online daily!

·    hmm: When I look at your social media it seems like you are fearless in your travels. What tips do you have for traveling international?

FJ:  Firstly, I’d like to say that the internet is a melting pot of information—use it for what it is worth! Moreover, prior to getting to my international destination, I like to download  the entire city that I’ll be in on Google Maps so I’m able  to use it offline with step-by-step instructions! The offline Google Maps feature is clutch when you have limited to no service abroad! Lastly, I would highly encourage anyone who is traveling abroad to register their trips with STEP—The Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP) is a free service to allow U.S. citizens and nationals traveling abroad to enroll their trip with the nearest U.S. Embassy or Consulate. Some of the benefits that come with STEP are: Receiving information from the Embassy about safety conditions in your destination country, helps the Embassy contact you in an emergency whether natural disaster, civil unrest or family emergency and it helps family and friends get in touch with you in an emergency!

hmm: Wow! That was helpful, these are some of the best tools for traveling you could've shared with us. Thank you!

hmm: Do you have a favorite place you visited so far?

FJ: South Africa has been my absolute favorite place that I’ve visited so far. The people, culture and food were truly unmatched. Everywhere I went I was greeted with hospitality and love. I would love to actually relocate there for a year in 2018!

hmm: What’s next on your travel list?

FJ: Accra, Ghana is definitely next on my travel list. I’m hoping to backpack to several countries in Africa in 2017!

hmm:  Before we go this has become a staple question, what is the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?

FJ:  When you are present and living boldly in your truth, you inadvertently inspire others to do the same!

It's time to step out of our daily routines and go. A very special thank you to Fatima for sharing your traveling tips and moments with us, what a way to be inspired. As I get ready to make my plans to go International, I encourage you all to share any tips, experiences and photos you have with us. You can email me or simply hashtag #shesabeast so we can see!

Stay Bold, Stylish & Free.
